Today, in the face of the multiple changes that the indigenous peoples of the Amazon are going through, women – in their roles as mothers, food-providers, bearers of knowledge about medicinal plants, administrators of household economies, midwives and artisans – are the ones who preserve and spread most of the traditional indigenous knowledge.
